The till

It works on the phone in your pocket, and it works when the network does not

Scan the label or type the title. Cash, MTN, Orange, store credit and points can settle one basket between them, and the receipt goes to the parent on WhatsApp before she has left the counter.

  • Sell offline. MoMo still works, because she dials it on her own phone — the sale queues and syncs when you are back.
  • Two people, one drawer: an assistant builds the cart, the cashier takes the money. Nobody is asked to do both.
  • Every sale carries a name, so when a figure is wrong there is somebody to ask rather than a shop to suspect.
  • A packet of ten scans as a packet, and takes ten off the shelf. Not ten scans.

The unfair advantage

Every school list in your town, on the day you join

One shop sends a school the template. The bursar fills it in. Every Vemlib shop in that town can sell against it the same day — and next July starts from this year's list rather than an empty sheet.

29
Class lists in one town
Across six schools, before you have added a single title of your own.
20 min
Of one bursar's time
That is the whole cost of a confirmed list, and every shop in the town inherits it.
0
Of your prices shared
The list says which books. What you charge, what you paid and who your customers are never leave your shop.
What it costs

Free until it is worth paying for

Vemlib is free while we build it. There is no plan to pick, nothing to pay and no card to enter. When that changes, every shop hears it from us first — and your data is exportable either way.

Honestly

What Vemlib will not do for you

Software that promises everything is software nobody checks. These are the limits, stated before you sign up rather than discovered in September.

It will not count your stock for you
Somebody has to walk the shelves once. Until they do, Vemlib says "not counted" rather than inventing a figure.
It will not stop theft
It will show you that 46 000 left without being sold last month, and where. What happens next is a conversation, not a feature.
It will not answer your customers
WhatsApp messages come to you. Vemlib adds receipts and alerts to the thread; the selling is still yours.
It will not correct a figure quietly
If two tills sell the last copy, the shelf goes negative and stays there until somebody counts. A wrong number that looks right is worse than no number.
Questions

The ones people actually ask

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

Nothing is deleted. The shop is suspended — tills stop and the storefront says closed — and everything is exactly as you left it when you renew. You can export the lot at any time, on any plan including Free, and it is yours to keep.

Do I need a printer, a scanner or a computer?

None of them. A phone is the till, its camera is the scanner, and QR labels print on ordinary sticker paper at any print shop. A thermal printer is optional and Vemlib will not pretend to print to one you do not have.

Does Vemlib hold my money?

Never. Your MoMo and bank accounts are yours, and customers pay you directly through your own gateway credentials. Vemlib charges you a subscription and touches nothing else — a branch's takings never pass through another branch, let alone through us.

My shop has no network half the day.

The till works offline and syncs when you are back. MoMo still works because the customer dials it on her own phone. What Vemlib will not do offline is guess a stock figure — it says "unknown" rather than a number that might be wrong.

Why would I share my school lists with other shops?

Because a school list is not a secret — it is on the school's noticeboard and in every parent's hand. You compete on stock, price and whether you answer WhatsApp, and none of those is shared. What you get back is every list in your town.

Can I use it in French?

The whole product, in French or English, chosen per person. Your customers get their receipts and messages in whichever language they wrote to you in.
